ALL ABOUT CARE DESIGN

• Care Design was founded in 1978 and was one of the very first companies in the UK to design and supply kitchens for wheelchair users. Unlike may other companies in this field Care Design's first area of speciality was, and still is kitchens for wheelchair users, and as such our knowledge in this area is vast. A kitchen for a wheelchair user is very different to that for an able bodied user and it is for this expertise that many of our clients select Care Design.

• Originally the kitchens which we supplied were sourced from abroad where the knowledge of this type of kitchen construction was ahead of the UK however as our expertise grew and it became clear that our clients often required kitchens with much shorter delivery times than we were able to acquire from abroad we decided to set up a team in the UK to build these units. This team is part of our Company and only builds products for us. Due to this change we were able to improve our products significantly as we have total control over materials, construction, finishes, delivery times etc to ensure a quality product. Also due to this we are able to build "specials" such as units 850mm wide instead of 800mm or 900mm so that our clients can have units which are really made to measure.

• Our Production and Sales Departments are based in the North of England however our clients, many of whom are major Architects, Housing Associations, Contractors and end users, are situated throughout the UK and in recent years we have had the pleasure of supplying projects as far afield as Jersey, Northern Ireland, Northern Scotland and all over the UK.

• To enhance our range in recent years we have added wardrobes and chests of drawers for the bedroom, also built by our Production Department, with special features for wheelchair users.

• There are also a wide range of items for the bathroom such as support rails, raised toilet seats, shower seats and our newest product which replaces the toilet seat and provides a bidet facility. These products are supplied to us by a variety of companies, including Pressalit, in the UK and abroad.

• For the kitchens we offer a free of charge design service and working from a plan submitted to ourselves by our Clients we will provide proposed layouts and quotations taking into account the special requirements of each project within one to two working weeks. They can also be supplied on disc in BMP format so that they can be built into our clients own presentations.
